Beverly J. Powers, 86, of Hot Springs Village since 1979 died on Friday, May 24, 2014. Beverly was born in Harvey, Illinois on January 1 1928, to the late James and Anita Lane Grenier.
Married to the late James W. Powers on August 31, 1946 in Harvey Illinois.
She was a member of the Village Bible Church where she was active in the choir. She was also active in the Village Pin Garden Club and in her earlier years did much in beautification for the Garden club in the Village and in Hot Springs. She was also a founder of The Designing Women flower design study club.
Beverly was a founding member of the Arkansas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved gardening, golf, swimming and ballroom dancing.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are her children:
Lt Col (Ret.) Steven J. Powers and his wife Elaine, and their daughter Cara of Albuquerque, NM; and son Captain Joshua and his wife Meg of Savannah, GA with their son Nathan.
Susan C. Powers and daughters Ashley, Allison, Adrianne of Rochester Minnesota, Cynthia M. Powers and son James, daughters Christine and Elizabeth of Spanish Fork, UT, Staff Sgt. Michael J. Powers of the National Guard and wife Kathy, sons Nicholas and Daniel of Jay Okla. Beverly is also survived by sisters Mary Forgilli of Homewood IL; and Carol Blastick of St. Joseph, MI and her daughter Lisa.A memorial service will be conducted at The Village Bible Church at 1 pm on Saturday, 31 May, 2014. A private graveside service will follow at CedarVale Cemetery in Hot Springs Village.
